Testimonio de Viaje

Today we visited a photography exhibition of my friend Nicolás Robinson Andrade (aka Nick). The exhibition is located in Imagina (Casa de la Juventud), Alcobendas. It is the "expo-pasillo" until Octuber 14th.
Imagina is open Monday - Friday from 9 am -2 pm. and 5 pm - 9 pm.

The photographs show lucky encounters. Moments where Nick was at the right place, at the right time.
His project was done in countries from South America, Europe and Asia. The pictures taken show public spaces and many aspects of human geography: culture, inmigration, religion, globalization...

The camaras used were iCanon A5010 Powershot (2006-2010) and Sony DC-V1(2011).

Nick is 21 years old and is currently studying South American Politics at the University of Bath (England). He is a great traveller and always shares curious anecdotes. He is currently editing a Photography book.

For instance, last time we met, he told Jose and I how he put his exhibition together. After his phographs were selected, he had to get every ready to hang his pictures. So, through couchsurfing,he asked an Argentinian girl to help him out for some beers. Unique, isn't it?

I couldn't make my mind up for just one favorite photograph. All of them were great and colorful. However my favorite ones were:
- Narela Slum (Narela, Nueva Dehli, India, 2006).
- Las Viejas (Alcobendas, España, 2010).
- Taj Mahal toma tres (Agra, India, 2007).

Jose and I really enjoyed and we definetly recommend it!

At Friends with Benefits... Preview!

Lucky me! I'm a proud owner of two tickets to see this movie's preview.
I went to see it yesterday with Jose.
I had only seen the trailer, and it sure looked fun. Predictable, but fun :) So... Want to read about it?

The preview's movie theater was "Cinesa Proyecciones" at Fuencarral 132 Street.

Justin Timberlake plays a young man who arrives at New York City to try to make it at a big company and Mila Kurtnis is a very optimist character.
Both actors look very comfortable with each other... Perhaps, ¿too comfortable?

I would describe the plot as, well, predictable. I think the movie foreshadows quite well that they are going to end up together.

What I liked the most were the Flash Mobs in the streets of NYC and in the Central Station. I think it is such a nice thing.

It follows the theme of "No strings attaced" with Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher. They both have the same plot, so it is almost like watching it again, but with a different cast.

After the movie, we went to Juicy Avenue and had a smoothie. The one I had with strawberries, raspberries and blueberries was not so good, but Jose's choice was amazing: muesli with honey and frozen yogurt smoothie... Yum Yum!

9/11

10 years ago, terrible events happened. We've all seen the horrible images of New York's World Trade Center with smoke comming out, and how the second plane hit the other twin.

I wanted to write something about America in my blog today, but about something joyful. So... Since I baked cupcakes this afternoon, here they are. It was lots of fun. I made them normal, cinammon and chocolate flavor. They are decorated with blue, pink and light brown icing.

Some of them have chips ahoy or oreo cookies. Other have blackberries or sugar hearts.

I hope this colorful treat draws a smile :)

Living in London

Living in London is a small retro-victorian restaurant and tea house. Located on Santa Engracia Street, there is also a shop with victorian-style house utilities, like the ones used at the restaurant.

At the entrance of the restaurant is a small shop with english goodies: tea, cookies, chocolates, jams and marmalades, chips, sweets, and sodas. Most products are from England, but one may also buy a slice of homemade cake.

The menu of the restaurant also offers options for vegetarians (yay!). One may find different snacks, like veggie chips or sandwiches.

Fantastic olives and bread with extroardinary olive oil is offered as an appetizer. Isn't it great to dip whole wheat bread in olive oil?? This appetizer is included with the lunch price. This is sometimes not common in other restaurants, which usually charge bread separetly if one eats it.

The soups vary from season to season, yesterday  different versions of "gazpacho" were offered: with strawberries and an ice cream or with mozzarella cheese. Salads are delicious, my boyfriend  tried the chicken curry and I chose the  goat cheese one. Mmmmmm... I love goat cheese!

Main dishes are also plus. I wasn't very hungry, so I got a Salad instead (I wanted to try the cakes!). My bf had Carpaccio with cheese foundee... very very cute!

So... time for dessert! There are so many options: brownie, cakes, smoothies and milkshakes. I just couldn't make up my mind. Finally, we both went for a cake: chocolate with raspberries and carrot cake.

Do I recommend it? I sure do! The price range is a little expensive (at least for my income at the moment). The whole course: cold dish + warm dish + dessert + drink can go for 30 euros per person. However, it is a very cute place to surprise someone (specially for a first date for example).
